Improving social value and community wellbeing across Nottinghamshire.
Transform Schools is a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) in Bassetlaw, consisting of five Academies, two Post-16 centres and one Special Educational Needs School. After school hours, these facilities are available to the community for public hire. However, in the aftermath of Covid-19, some sites did not reopen for community bookings. Those that did reopen were not utilised to their full potential.
In 2022, Kajima Community was selected to manage the community hire of the available facilities. Through the BookingsPlus software, the schools in Bassetlaw can market all hireable facilities to the community through a dedicated website. Furthermore, activities taking place at these sites can also be published on a What’s On page, providing hires with a free marketing platform.
The ambition of the project is to transform leisure spaces into functional community hubs, where a variety of sports, drama and educational classes can take place out of hours whilst still giving private users somewhere to stay fit and active.
Since working with this project, Kajima has generated an additional £18,750 of new income, an 11 percent increase from the inherited bookings value. Kajima Community manages all costs related to the lettings service and updates an ongoing budget showing spending and income for each venue.
