A 1980s post-modernist building, transformed into a modern and memorable workspace.
The Grove was traditionally seen as an outdated building, with an unusual liner ‘stripe’ coloured brick based in the central of London with strong potential to offer open and flexible working accommodation for businesses. Kajima, acting as investors, transformed the building into a modern and simple workspace.
In partnership with award-winning architects, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects, the aim was to work with the current buildings form whilst maximising net internal area and opportunities for additional floor space. The end result allowed open reception and floors, extended 6th floor, new penthouse office suite and plants in the basement, to create a contemporary, smart and sustainable work environment. With the reception now including a large graphic installation, named ‘Earning my Stripes’ by Morag Myerscough of Studio Myerscough.
The Grove achieved BREAAM ‘Excellence’ since the building was completed in 2012, and has been fully let since 2012 to clients including Fitness First, Galliford Try, Government of Latvia and Bellerby Education.
